The fall sequence of Jewish holidays closes with simchat torah, marking the end of a Torah study cycle and starting the cycle anew.  The first chapter of Genesis, read on the morning of simchat torah, presents images of creation, culminating in the appearance of humankind.  The chapter concludes with the words “yom ha-shishi,” the sixth day.

BJE March of the Living: DEADLINE! Friday, November 14, 2014

California Pride on March of the LivingApril 13 - 27, 2015

Each year, BJE invites Jewish teens throughout Los Angeles to experience March of the Living, a life-transforming journey which fosters an enduring attachment to Judaism and to Israel.   Joining thousands of teens from over 40 countries Los Angeles area teens commemorated Holocaust Remembrance Day in Poland marching from Auschwitz to the death camp in Birkenau.  Traveling to Israel, teens observed Israel’s Remembrance Day for Fallen soldiers (Yom ha’Zikaron) and celebrated Israel’s independence Day (Yom Ha’Atzmaut), experiencing the joy and significance of Israel’s independence.  Click HERE for more information!
