A Distinguished History
The American Jewish community has come to rely intensely on Jewish educational institutions to help ensure Jewish continuity and identity.  BJE has played a vital role in the growth and development of the Los Angeles Jewish educational system since 1937.  The work of BJE is often taken for granted.  Teacher referral, professional growth conferences for teachers, accreditation, curriculum advisement and monthly meeting of principals are not headline news, but they are essential to the success of Jewish education in every school type.  Successive generations' Jewish educational experiences rely on the continuing strength of the community's central Jewish educational infrastructure. 

A Future That Depends On You
When you contribute to the annual Friends campaign of BJE, you can take pride in the work that the agency does; developing new educational experiences to explore Jewish life, increasing access to Jewish education through scholarship aid, and enhancing the quality of that education through services for schools, teachers, parents and students. 

There are many emerging needs in Jewish education that BJE, with proper funding, can address effectively.  Among these include: reducing the rising cost of Jewish education; recruitment and retention of quality educators; curriculum and instruction support in "Israel education";  and meeting the needs in the arena of special education. 

A gift to BJE's annual Friends campaign, to the central address for Jewish educational needs of our community, is a noble expression of commitment to the entire Jewish people. It demonstrates a love of community which is without limitation – a proud statement of commitment to our individual schools and to every individual Jewish child.
