Workshop Opportunity - Open to all BJE educators

How to Handle Threatening Phone Calls

This is a workshop opportunity from BJE in response to the aftermath of October 7th. We are offering a workshop for ECCs, Day Schools, and Part-Time Religious Schools led by Chameleon Associates on how to handle threatening phone calls. One of our day schools used them for an in-school training program and thought it was a really worthwhile training.

Tuesday, April 2nd at 1:00pm over Zoom
•    A threatening call such as a bomb threat is frightening for the person answering the phone and disabling for the school that receives it.  Learn what to expect, get guidelines for how to respond and learn techniques for communicating with the caller.
•    Topics Include:
o    Why people make threatening calls.
o    How to be prepared for it.
o    What to expect when you answer such a call.
o    Communication techniques.
o    How to de-escalate the situation.
o    What to do to help law enforcement.

Important Notes:
•    Cost to participate is at a subsidized rate of $25/person. You do not need to pay at registration. BJE will send you an invoice after you register.
•    This workshop is open to all employees of BJE day schools, afternoon schools, and preschools. You may register more than one person from your school.
•    This workshop is limited to 50 people. If we have more than 50 interested people, we will schedule a second workshop.
•    We need to have a minimum of 20 people by March 22nd, or we won’t be able to do the workshop.
•    If we cancel the workshop on March 22nd, those who have registered and paid will be given a full refund.
•    After March 22nd (assuming we have our 20 participants), there will be no refunds for people who cannot attend. Schools may, however, substitute other staff members in their place.
