As BJE’s Director of the Center for Excellence in Early Childhood Education and Special Projects, Carly Rosenstein supports a network of 48 BJE affiliated early childhood programs through networking and professional development opportunities, including an annual early childhood educator conference. During her time at BJE, Carly has strengthened the Early Childhood Directors’ Network by introducing monthly meetings, as well as broadened the scope and frequency of professional development opportunities for the early childhood directors.  Her special projects include coordinating Strategic Planning Initiative, as well as assisting the BJE team helping our day schools access government funding.

Prior to coming to BJE, Carly was the Assistant Director of Education at Temple Akiba of Culver City working with both the Early Childhood Center and religious school. In her position at Temple Akiba, Carly developed their “Tiny Tot Shabbat” program, opening up the community to families with children 0-2 years old and helping to substantially increase the ECC enrollment. Before that, she served as an AmeriCorps Fellow, working at the Jewish Federation’s KOREH LA, and then participated in Teach for America, teaching middle school in Watts, CA. She has also taught religious school for many years and taught elementary school at the American International School in Jerusalem. 
 
As a native of Los Angeles, she grew up at Adat Shalom, attended Los Angeles Hebrew High School, was an active member of USY, and a Jewish day camp counselor. She attended the University of California Los Angeles, where she earned a BA in Psychology and minor in Applied Developmental Psychology, and participated in a variety of internships at Hillel at UCLA. Carly holds an M.A. in Education Policy and Administration from Loyola Marymount University. 
  
Carly’s passion lies in instilling a love of Judaism and learning in the next generation. She values working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and lay leaders to bring the best possible educational environment for young children. In her free time, Carly enjoys cookie decorating, scrapbooking, and spending time with her husband, Rabbi Eric Rosenstein, and her two children who attend a Jewish day school.
