Pressman Academy is affiliated with the Solomon Schechter Day School Network and is connected to Temple Beth Am.

Job Summary:
We seek to hire an experienced Judaic Studies educator who will be teaching in the 2024-2025 school year in the upper elementary school Jewish text, Hagim, Israel education and T’fillah. The candidate will not only have a history of successful and innovative teaching, but will also be committed to mentorship and professional sharing in a highly collaborative environment. We are looking for candidates who have a genuine interest in working with upper elementary school-aged children, have taught upper elementary grade or middle school students for at least two years and have experience with differentiation. Main Teaching Responsibilities:
Teach Torah, Parashat HaShavua, Rabbinics, Hagim, T’fillah and ritual.
Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
Participate in department meetings and collaborate with other faculty members and/or administrative staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods
Plan for differentiated curriculum progression to meet the needs of each individual learner including understanding of modifications, accommodations and enrichment as it applies to diverse learners
Utilization of technology to keep attendance, keep a gradebook, to communicate with parents and students, as well as a teaching tool
Manage student behavior in the classroom and administer discipline according to the school philosophy

Requirements: Qualifications & Experience:
Excellent communication skills.
Moderate fluency or better in Hebrew reading, writing and speaking skills
Degree and/or certification from in Judaic Studies, Education and/or related field
Minimum of 2 years previous upper elementary or middle school, preferably in a Jewish Day School setting
Experience in planning & implementing an engaging, integrated curriculum
Blend of traditional and innovative methodologies
Dedication to professional growth and development
Excellent classroom management skills
Willingness to co-teach classes as needed with another teacher
Ability to build meaningful and collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.

In addition to the above essential job functions each Day School Full Time Teacher shall be required to:
Participate in morning drop-off, lunch, recess and dismissal supervision as requested by the Administration
Substitute and cover for co-workers when requested by the Administration
Supervise and chaperone student activities during and outside of school hours as requested by the Administration
Prepare progress reports and report cards in MS and communicate with parents as required by the Communication Protocol
