RSEN Network: Israel Curriculum Initiative | Our New Community Shaliach
This is a special RSENetwork meeting dedicated to the subject of Israel education, including the details for our Networks Israel Curriculum Initiative.
The meeting will have two topics:
1. Israel Curriculum Initiative: Last year, 11 of our schools participated in a year-long training with Dr. Sivan Zakai on best Israel education practices in a Religious School setting. The 11 members of the Israel ICoP have decided that our next step is to develop an Israel curriculum specifically for our schools, for grades 2nd through B'nai Mitzvah, that includes six lessons per year. With support from The Jewish Federation and BJE Donors, RESHET-LA has hired two curriculum writers who will work with our Israel ICoP to write it this fall/winder, Pilot in the spring, and be ready for all of our schools to start using Fall 2025! At this meeting we will inform the entire network about the rationale, scope and timeline for this project. This is a major effort from Reshet-LA, and implore all who can attend to please do so.
2. Meet Our New Community Shaliach.... Hila Huber, Senior Shlicha for JFEDLA, JAFI, and RootOne.
The second half of the meeting, we will get to meet Hila Huber. Hila is an experienced MSW with a rich background in educational work across Jewish communities in North and South America, as well as Israel. This is Hila's second Shlichut, following her role as a Habonim Dror Shlicha in Philadelphia from 2014 to 2016. Originally from a small community in the Gilboa region of northern Israel, Hila has spent the past few years living in Tel Aviv. As an active reservist in the IDF’s 8200 unit, Hila was called to serve after the events of October 7th. In her current role, Hila focuses on connecting teens with meaningful educational and engagement opportunities within the community. Through RootOne, she offers 9th-12th graders $3,000 vouchers for immersive trips to Israel and is eager to share more about these opportunities.
This meeting will take place on Tuesday Oct. 29th from 1-2 PM.
